Having Problems With Journals Buttons Displaying?

Morning folks -- got a request for you: I'm getting some reports of Journaler owners' buttons not displaying when they're signed in (primarily the Add Entry button); I'm not seeing this myself (either inside or outside the AOL client), so I could use reports from people who are having this problem.

If you're having this problem, it would be helpful if you can tell me in an e-mail to JournalsEditor@aol.com:

* The address of your Journal

* What version of the AOL software you're using (I'm especially interested in what's happening with AOL UK folks)

* Whether clearing your footprint helps or doesn't help.

* Important: If you get the buttons normally when you use an external Web browser. If you can please try this, it will help narrow the problem down.

If you get your buttons when you sign in using an external Web browser, that not only tells us that the problem is probably some interaction of the AOL software with Journals, plus it gives you a workaround.

* A screenshot of what you're seeing would be nice, but optional.

* If you're having any other problems using other AOL Products (AOL Pictures, etc.), or any other Web pages.

* [Added 2/27: Also, how long has this been a problem for you? Is this a recent development or has it been a problem for a while? A specific date or timeframe would be most helpful.]

Thanks -- Joe

Joe, I have just written to you.  I did get in eventually through Firefox and the buttons were there but the print was incredibly small, too small for me.  I had this problem the other day when my Add Entry Button first disappeared, the print also went small.  Anyway in case it helps, the buttons are all there on Firefox but I would not be able to cope with print that small.

I wrote to you last week & the week before re ALL my buttons, but not all the time. Sometimes they are there, sometimes not.
The past few days they have been fine.

Hi Joe. I have seen this problem intermittently over the past week or so. For me, simply reloading the page usually worked. (That's a forced bypass of the cache - shift+reload.)

I have found the new entry button disappearing from time to time. I have in the past found that if I close my journal and re-open it it usually clears.  I`m using AOL9 and my journal address is : http://journals.aol.com/labdancer51/SandrasScribbles/

Hi I have had the same problem as many more and also getting a timed out message on all pics in my journal, when it finally opens error 504 whatever that is?People sending e. mails to me saying AOL wouldn't let them place comments, and I myself am unable to edit MY JOURNAL any evening. It is fine mornings and afternoons, but in th evenings it is a no go area at all. Also when I try to connect to some journals AOL lose there connection altogether and have to re-connect me.They then say they do not know why when I click the details button. So very frustrating.I have a new computer and all is up to scratch I am using AOL9.I am on Broadband silver and still it so slow.Thanx a million Hope we can find a solution.I have no other problems with anything else I do on my computer  just on Journals.

The case of the disappearing buttons has been off and on again.  I checked back and on 1/4/07 you did have a post mentioning the problem.  I have had no problem at all now for almost a week.  I hope I didn't jinx my self for saying that.  But before that it was working some days and not some days.  'On Ya' - ma

No add button on Hometown, everything else is fine with me; just want to make
a point to ppl, sometimes folks have nore than one account, like myself, and if you log on with the wrong screen name, you won't see the buttons! OK-I know this is a different problem, but I thought worth mentioning. thanks! ~Diane~

Hi folks -- the missing "Add Photos from Hometown" link is a different issue, and I will ask Stephanie to address it. Thanks -- Joe

Hello agian,I was wondering if you could tell me why I cannot access Nighmaremoms Journal without  AOLclosing me down.I do understand it is of a high graphic journal, but I do go to many which are the same and I do not have any problems with others whatsoever.I tried everything.Clearing cache footprints everything on my new computer is up to date.I can wait for several hours and try again only to get the same thing. As soon as Nightmaremoms journal opens AOL shut me down. When I click on details this is the message I get below..I am on AOL9 Broadband Silver.

We are unable to determine the cause of your shutdown we're sorry no additional details are available.
Thankyou I await a reply if possible.

I did do an entry about the problems yesterday and asked people to report problems to you.  I do not think alerts went out on the entry because I have had far less comments than usual.  Still, I have done my best.  The Add New Entry button is still missing along with the Edit Journal Button and the Add Pictures button.

Hi Joe.  My "Add an Entry" button is often missing after I open my journal to post.  How I get around it is a little trick another journaler taught me.  I go leave a comment in my previous entry.  After doing this my buttons appear at the top of the page.  Then I can make an entry!

I tried the trick that Krissie posted in the comment under this one.  It did not work for me.  The buttons remain missing.  Refreshing the page does not work either or closing my journal and going in again.  I do not like posting through Firefox as it says that others may see the information you are sending and as you know you have to put in your aol screen-name and password.  I can only hope they get the problem sorted out quickly.

I tried the trick too, but no luck - any chance of of getting this problem fixed?  Is it just the UK bloggers who are affected?

The Add Entry button remains missing and so does the Edit Journal button.  Poor Freda (comment below) has the same problem and cannot do a journal entry and she is not getting any alerts either.  This is affecting both my journals, Jeannette's Jottings and Through a Dog's Eyes.  I do not like using Firefox.  Is there any chance of this problem being fixed?  I cannot see my journal continuing unless it is.  Thank you.
