In case you haven't been reading my comments..

Some of my responses to users comments

To Paul, yes a copy of your journal will be made on Blogger. Your journal will still be available till Nov 1st. Also, the migration will be opened up to Journals users starting on or after Oct. 7th. We will be using this week to iron out any kinks in the process.

To
Sherri - I would not worry about the migration too much. It should be
fairly straightforward. Blogger will also have a helpdesk that you can
send email to, if you have any issues and a live real person will
respond and help out. So, all efforts have been made to minimize the
pain.

To Yasmin (cayasm) and everybody else - Your journals will
be copied over in its ENTIRETY (entries, comments, about me). So,
anything else you hear is not true.

And no, your email account is not affected by this at all as some have been suggesting.

I understand that people are upset and that is okay. However, I request you to be patient and understanding as we work thru this process.

Just one question:  you mentioned prior that if we already have an account there we should change the name????? I tried...can't do it.

Are you referring to the name of the Journal or the email address.

I alread have rosesareread.blogspot.com
and red.roses.are.read@gmail.com
but the name of the blog was the same as my AOL Journal "RosesAreRead"

I don't remember about this because my daughter set it up for me a year ago and I started AOL Journals then and liked it better.

I'm so confused.  I already tried to copy stuff and move it over and none of my animations or graphics copied.

Rose,

You cannot copy over anything yet. And as for the name, I will explain this in another email later.

Am I right in thinking that we who have an AOL journal in the UK are NOT having our journals transferred to Blogspot ?   I won't say more than the fact that I could not have believed how one could shed so many tears over the loss of on line friends. I am completely devastated as are so many of us...Sybil

Again, you can transfer your blog if you so choose to. All Journals users have that option regardless of whether you receive a mail or not.

I reopened my account at Blogger, the journal's name is the same but I create a gname....will that hinder my blog transfer, the gname?

Also I would have to say 3/4 of my entries photos are loaded on AOL's picture file...will those entries transfer or do I have to save?

I have five journals under my name, will they all be copied over? And as we in the UK will not get notification e-mails how will we know when it is migration time?

I'm thinking if we used AOL to store picture, those won't be carried over to Blogger.  At least, not the album-type of thing.   Am I right?

Can I ask why they are getting rid of hometown???? Laine

I am glad that you are migrating the journals to Blogger... it is by far the easiest and most comprehensive platform that I have worked with, and the possibilities are limitless when it comes to playing with HTML and templates. There is a good support system through blogger and a blogger help group that has answered all of my questions as time has passed. There is a large and supportive community out there and all the wonderful friendships that started here can continue on in the new platform.

I'm concerned about getting my private journal migrated along with it's comments.  I know that if I make it public, the comments are lost.  Am I going to be able to migrate a private journal with its comments??

Thanks, Vish.

So, our journals will be available on aol through Nov. 1st, but after October 7th, we can start using them on blogger?  Presumably we'll be given the website addy for the new blogger journal that's copied over?

And, will our private journals still be private, or is there a risk they'll become public (meaning we should delete our aol ones), or?

Thanks, and yeah, I don't tend to read comments typically.

I am so  confused about this whole thing!!!! So are you saying AOL will move our journal for us to blogspot???
I used my journals name for my new spot was that ok???
This whole thing is confusing!  WHY is AOL doing this???????

SO I don't get why we can't have the same name as  our AOL journal? Wouldn't make it much easier to move the AOL journals over!? And how does AOL know who wants to move where??? How is AOL going tomigrate EVERYONE'S Journals in their entirety??????
