On August 21st, it will be 5 years ago since AOL introduced that feature which we now use every day: Journals. Or blogs. It is the cornerstone under our community, and in spite of its many failings, is worthy of a wee celebration of whichever sort. There are several possibilities, and I'm putting up this poll to see what people think.
Obviously, if you vote for "Other" you'll have to be a bit more specific, so leave a comment outlining your idea.

I voted and I picked "nothing"; I enjoy journaling and blogs and they are a big part of my days/life, but I'm not sure I would do a dedicated entry about it or participate in a chat and I couldn't come up with anything that would be considered "other"; hard to celebrate online the way I usually celebrate anniversaries; nice dinner out and a fancy dessert

I concur with Betty. I voted nothing because a dedicated entry or chat doesn't seem to fit the bill and I couldn't come up with anything better.

5 Years is pretty cool....
I started in May of 2005......
The first time I saw the journals/bloggs, I fell in love with it................
I started in May or June in 2005 with another screen name. I have had two journals before this one that I had to close for personal reasons. I have had this personal journal for three years but have made entries nearly every day.
The friends I have made are like family to me. I can't go without hearing from them every day now. Journals mean so much to me.
I'd love to chat with each and every person that's touched my heart in some way and wish them well and congratulations on so many years together. At this writing, I'm only one of two who wants that. I'll be sure to do an entry.

I have had an AOL blog since the first year they were created, going back almost five years. I definitely, as this community is a very important part of my life, believe "the 5 year AOL blog Anniversary" is worthy of a celebration! I have come to know very special friends in Jland, who have become some of the most supportive friends of my life, and can't imagine passing the date without some sort of celebration.
I voted for a chat and an entry. I think an entry is a simple thing one can do, for whoever chose to participate. And a chat is a fun way, for a couple hours, to talk with old friends and meet new friends in Jland. Again, since participation wouldn't be mandatory, it would just be a fun thing for those who would want to get together and do it!
I just want to commemorate something that has given so much to me over the years - AOL blogs, and the friends I have come to know through them!

I voted dedicated entry.
Although after posting-I thought that there isn't much I could do on an entry myself that would be noteworthy but sure would enjoy reading those of others that I know would do it justice.
I have always been a fish out of water in the chats.everyone seemed to be talking over my head(a very easy thing to do,LOL).
So that's my opinion-for whatever it's worth

Other: I think each person who is interested could do an entry on Aug 21 about what role AOL Journals has played in their online experience since the inception of Journals. Then, each person who posted such an entry could download a special icon for their sidebar. Not that you could stop everyone from downloading it to the sidebar but those who actually participate would know that there should be an anniversary entry if there is an icon in the sidebar. Either way it is a nice recognition of Journals.

I voted chat. I would not want to do a dedicated entry because there will be so many of them already. To be totally honest, I think aol should come up with something, they started the whole thing off. Not sure what, except maybe a logo or something we could all display on the sidebar. Every year we get the same blue and green one. Something special to celebrate five years from them would be nice.
