Blogging on the Run?

Despite the title, this isn't some entry about moblogging (mobile blogging) -- though I do need to do another one of those.

Saw this item in Metafilter yesterday -- Farah Damiji, a former magazine editor and journalist, was serving a three-and-a-half year sentence in a British prison for running up over £50,000 in charges on credit cards that she stole from friends, as well as trying to tamper with a prosecution witness and attempting to get the charges dropped by impersonating an official.

She left on a one-day education furlough so she could attend a class, and she just decided not to go back.

It's not exactly 'The Fugitive', but then she goes, still on the lam from the law, and starts talking about it in her MySpace profile (and associated blog).

Remember when I posted yesterday that sometimes it's better to just keep your mouth shut?

I would suggest that this is one of those times.

The Times Online article says she has a borderline personality disorder, so perhaps that has something to do with it.

The Guardian News Blog has more on the story, including a suggestion that authorities try to contact her by leaving a comment on her blog.

I wonder if Downview prison has a MySpace? Maybe they could add her as a friend.

Thanks -- Joe

That's just plain nutty.  I wonder if she's single?  I could totally fall in love with a lunatic like her.

Sure, I may be a little crazy, but hey!  At least she's not a stripper, Joe, and I really could use an editor.

Joe,
I am having problems adding pictures to the blog using Internet Explorer 6.0. It is only one button (Add Pictures) that causes IE to hang; same on AOL 9.0. Firefox and Netscape do NOT have this problem. Other buttons on the same page in Blogs still seem to be working. Other people don't have this problem. I've left this query with AOLPictures as well, and they (as yet) do not know what causes this. Could you ask your techies to have a look?

PERHAPS SOME ARE NATURAL BORN IMPERSONATORS.
BEING A NAIVE FARM BOY IN APRIL 1942, ANSWERED THE MILITARY DRAFT CALL AND WAS SOON IN FORT SILL OKLAHOMA TO BE ASSIGNED TO TRAINING.
OTHER OKIES AND I RODE THE TROOP TRAIN THE FOUR DAYS REQUIRED TO ARRIVE IN CALIFORNIA.
THIS WAS NEW STUFF TO ME, VERY LITTLE MONEY, RECEIVING 21 DOLLARS A MONTH FROM UNCLE SAM. JUST FOLLOWED INSTRUCTIONS AND DURING OFF DUTY HOURS PLAYED BALL OR SAT AROUND TALKING.
NOT SO WITH LIEUTENANT STOCKWELL. HAD A MIND OF HIS OWN. BOUGHT AN OFFICER'S UNIFORM INCLUDING THE FIRST LIEUTENANT BARS. HE HAD BEEN A GREEN KID OR WE HAD THOUGHT SO AND WAS SORT OF IN AWE THAT HE COULD PULL OFF THIS STUFF SEVERAL DAYS BEFORE BEING APPREHENDED.
HE WOULD STRUTT DOWN TO THE MOTOR POOL AND BE ASSIGNED A JEEP, DRIVE OFF INTO THE SUNSET TO VISIT HIS NEW FOUND GIRL FRIEND.
HAD TO BE NATURAL BORN TALENT TO GET AWAY WITH THAT FOR THOSE FEW DAYS. I OFTEN WONDERED WHY STOCKWELL DID NOT APPLY FOR OFFICER'S CANDIDATE SCHOOL WHEN INTERVIEWED AT FORT SILL ?     sam
