It's Hot! Cool Off! (cheaply)

With the temperatures hitting close to the 100 mark in many areas of our country, now or in the near future.  I thought I might offer some cost effective ways to stay cool.  When you are hot, you have to mix it up to stay cool and save money.  Sometimes you are so hot that just thinking makes you too hot to move.  Here are some cost effective ideas on ways to stay.

If you have a laptop top:

Panara bread has free WiFi and they are well Air Conditioned

Most local libraries have free WiFi as well.  Bring the kids to the kiddie section and sit with them there while they look at books and play with the games.  If you don't have kids.... go to the adult section. (sorry no porn in the libraries, Adult section means they have reading suitable for grow up people)

Check out your local "play places".  There is an indoor playground in my area.  It costs about $8 for the kids to get in for the day and parents are free.  They have free WiFi there as well.  You can sit and work while you watch your kids play.

If you just want to cool off:

I have never had central air (even when I lived in Florida) so on the really hot days my only option to cool off is to get out of the house.  I found this to be quite effective and I am also able to be quite productive.  The house work would get done early morning and late evening.  I would try to get up by 6am and out by 9am

Mondays were errand days, the car, the shops and markets and the other places we had to do business with all had Air Conditioning, so we stayed cool.

Tuesdays and Wednesdays was exploration day.  On these days we would find a museum or check out libraries in other areas.  Each museum and library were a different adventure.  It was fun for the kids to find the differences and the similarities between them.  It was also very cost effective.

Thursdays and Fridays we usually saved for visiting friends with pools and central air.

Saturdays and Sundays were always busy with friends, parties, or sports events. So staying cool on these days were always hit or miss

Be Creative!  Stay Cool! And if you have any other suggestions PLEASE share with the group below!

Also, if you haven't already, check out Inspiration.  I have an interesting tip on how to remove your butt from a chair if you are stuck to it (literally!).

i loved the entry. It was funny. I usually sit in the kids pool all day with the kids when it is hot. I get up early and do my cleaning while it is relatively coll outside still and I make alot of cold foods for supper to keep the oven off. I like to make fruit smoothies as well..Stay cool everyone...Christine

I'm not sure why this is posted here at magic smoke. Wouldn't it be better posted at your own journal?
