Hi all...we just had an outage, which I posted to the Journals Message Board. It started about 11:30am EDT and lasted just under 30 minutes. It should be fixed now.
This one was stranger than most.
Right now, it looks like they were moving around some hardware on the back-end, to replace some of the host machines. Typically, this kind of stuff is scheduled in the off-off hours (like very early in the morning), but apparently circumstances forced this one to go during the day.
So, like I said, Journals went down around 11:30am. They came back about 10 or 15 minutes later, but it was a good news/bad news thing:
Since this doesn't count as "resolved", they took Journals back down.
I did, however, get my screenshot, here:
I was somewhat annoyed that the Magic Smoke art header didn't come in, nor my Darth Tater photo.
Anyway, if you have a screenshot of your Journal in Chinese, post it to your blog and leave a link in the comments here.
Journals are back up now. Needless to say, I am very curious to see the explanation behind this one. Thanks -- Joe

Any update on the font fading into the backgrounds on dark colored journals yet? It's been a long time, is it something they can't fix?

Hi...to get screenshots, it depends on what operating system you're using; on a Windows machine, you can usually just hit the "Print Screen" button, which copies your screen to the Clipboard -- you can then just Paste (ctrl-v) it into any standard graphics editing program (or even a blank AOL document or e-mail). -- Joe

Hi John!
Here are Apple's instructions for taking screen shots, etc. using the Mac OS.
These and many other tips can be found by using the Help menu on the Mac while in the Finder.
Shortcuts for taking pictures of the screen
You can use keyboard shortcuts to take pictures of the screen in Mac OS X.
To take a picture of the whole screen, press Command-Shift-3.
To take a picture of part of the screen, press Command-Shift-4, then drag to select the area you want in the picture.
To take a picture of a window, the menu bar, the Dock, or other area, press Command-Shift-4, then press the Space bar. Move the pointer over the area you want so that it's highlighted, then click. If you decide you want to drag to select the area, press the Space bar again.
If you press Command-Shift-4 and decide you don't want to take the screen shot, press the Escape key.
Screen shots are saved as files on the desktop. If you want to put the screen shot in the Clipboard, rather than create a file, hold down the Control key when you press the other keys. You can then paste the picture into a document.
You can also take pictures of the screen using the Grab application (in the Utilities folder).
Some applications, such as DVD Player, may not let you take pictures of the screen.

Note: If you are using the Safari 2.0 browser, you can email the entire contents of a page to yourself. A very wonderful feature.

Is this for real? Sounds like someone is planting a worm in your server. If it is Chinese, maybe it is called something else. An electronic dragon.
Actually, I just wanted to see if I could really Blog on AOL. I'll have to check into this a little more. Maybe I can make a blog on my fav-O-rite topics and not be like all the other BORING Blogs.

Confucious say: Nice Blog Entry. I can read it!
