~ A Little of This and That and a couple Picks ~

Hi!  My name is Donna, some of you know me by
D.  I live in the Great White North, also known as Western New
York.  I've been part of AOL's journal community since June of
2005.  I started writing to fill some spare
time.  Though I work full time my son is grown and my evenings
were idle, unless or course there is hockey on.  It started
out with the idea of doing a hockey journal, hence the
name.  As I added more personal type entries I wanted graphics
to fit.  It was easier to make my own then hunt down one to
use.  That started a journey.  A journey of making
graphics, meeting wonderful folks, and getting into
photography.  I would never have thought I'd become so
addicted......... :::sigh::: but I have.  Better this then
something else, eh?  This, that, and
Hockey

is just that, lots of graphics and tag offers.
Personal pictures and collages.  Some stories scattered in
between.

Not too long ago Vish sent me an email inviting me to be
Guest Editor.  I was flattered and of course excepted
immediately.  The object is to give exposure to different
journals.  How hard could it be to pick a few journals and
spotlight them?

So I sat down and started looking at
journals.  Thinking hard on who and what to
spotlight.  How the hell do I pick a few?  Some have
been chosen already.  Some are private for various
reasons.    Lots are already on the
most commented journal list regularly.  It was not easy
narrowing down the choices.  Not one bit.  I wanted
to put everyone here.  Such great reads out there!!
The catch is I had to narrow it down.   I hope I've
succeeded in giving you something a bit
different.

~ Guido - Call for Support

Guido actually put this journal together and set it up, but
it is for all of JLand.  Not your traditional 'read' but it's
what the community represents.  It is a place we can all go to
ask for support when needed.  Whether it be for yourself or
someone else.  If you don't already have it you might want to
stop by and set your alerts.

Ok, I'll admit the title of the blog drew me in.
Why wouldn't it?  I live in Buffalo and see a gazillion
squirrels, so I was nosey.   What I found was a lady
who moved to a new area to follow a dream of being a Doctor.
It's an awesome read.  It also gives me a different view of my
home town.

Joyce is a newbie to JLand or at least
writing.  She was worried about what she'd
write.  OMG!!  She sucks you in with her
stories.  Her simple life?  LOL  Yeah
right!  She will make you laugh right out loud.  Give
her a read I'm sure you'll find something of
interest.

~ Michael - Greenspaces.com

Michael had stopped at my journal a few times and left some
comments regarding my photo's.  He then followed through on an
idea he had to do a journal on the environment and what we can do to
help.  In addition to great tips he also has great
photo's.  I hope you'll stop by and take a look.

Now I could go on and on with more wonderful journals, but
I am afraid I'd never stop.  Besides, I will leave some for
the next Guest Editor.   Thanks for taking the time
to read and check out the above journals

Hugs

~d

Introducing a new game!

Hi!  This is Valerie from There is a Season.  Vish asked my sister Krissy from Sometimes I Think and me to start a new game here in Magic Smoke.  Thanks, Vish!  We are very proud and happy to do so!  We do hope you enjoy what we have come up with!!  It is a "What's The Caption?" game with a little twist.  You will have a chance to win an award for the sidebar of your blog!  Don't worry about how the game works.  We will be helping you along by letting you know what to do, so put Magic Smoke on alerts!  Also, the game rules will be listed here today.  So, without further ado, we happily bring you the first installment of "What's the Caption? Wednesday"...

  - Krissy and I will place a picture around
9AM EST in Magic
    Smoke each week.

  - After the picture is posted, place a Caption you feel is
appropriate for the picture in the Comments Section.  Please DO
NOT email your submission or put it under any other Comment

submissions placed in the Comment Section under the picture will
be eligible for judging.  If you do this as an entry in your blog,
please return to Magic Smoke and put your submission in the
    Comments Section.

  - Submissions are
due by Saturday 4PM EST
.  Those submitted
after this time will not be eligible for judging.

  - A panel of a few Jland judges (3 or 4) will look over the Captions
and choose what they feel are the best 3 or 4.  The top four will
be posted on Sunday 9 AM EST (or when we can do it - sometime
    Sunday morning EARLY).

  -
Here comes the fun part!
Where you get to participate!  You will
be voting for your favorite Caption by poll
