Update: Six More Guest Editor's Picks

Hey folks. Quick update -- as I mentioned on Friday, I wanted to try putting up another six of Guest Editor Mrs. L's picks up on the Journals Main Page. I'm trying to figure out ways to highlight more great Journals and blogs on the main page. Of course, you can see Mrs. L's full list of picks in her blog entry (which is the focus of this whole exercise, anyway):

So what do you think -- one set of six for the whole week, or is two sets over the course of the week better? I don't think we could get any more frequent than that, at least not in this space. I also can't currently make the list longer -- it's used on the People Connection main page, and I'm already pushing the limit.

Thanks -- Joe

Hi Joe,
I really feel as though each set of five should have the honor of a whole week on the main page. Not everybody gets to visit in a short space of time and many have waited for so long to be featured. (Especially all of Mrs. L's picks as many have been overlooked for their humor and great writing in the past.) Wish you could feature ten (or more) in a week in this particular case.... but usually five good new reads is enough to check out.
I love both sets of five this week but am sad that the first five got bumped off the main page so quickly. A very short moment in the sun.
At least with the guest editor's picks we are seeing new and unusual journals featured. That is a step in the right direction.

I have to agree with the first comment....There should only be one list each week. Some people wait a very long time to get their name on that list, they should get to enjoy the spotlight. Also, many people don't get to check the Journals Main Page frequently for one reason or another and they might miss one list or the other. I definitely think it should be kept at one list a week, even though I have to admit that Mrs. L's picks were all wonderful.

Joe, I think five in a week is just right.  I am a new journaler here and am really enjoying reading the list.  If people want more they can do what I do...click on the links in the comments section.  There is endless reading out there.  BTW, Mrs. L is a wonderful character here...she needs a spotlight type job with AOL!  :)   C.     http://journals.aol.com/gdireneoe/thedailies

You could probably come up with a script that displays a random five from among a list of all the editor's picks everytime the page is visited.

I think a full week for 5 is a good thing.  Less pressure to try to get around to all of them.

It would be very nice if you as an AOL Editor suggest there are other member created areas other than blogs that deserve recognition.  Welcome to Betty's Place has been on line since 1998 and features something for everyone.  It's address is http://members.aol.com/BETTYLOGIC/index.html.
