- Midnight EDT tonight (Wednesday, 5/16), the Journals team will be installing a patch that fixes the problem where people's names (usually first names) were showing up instead of their Screen Name when they left a comment or posted an entry. I'll tell you why it happened after the fix is installed.
- We're listening to your feedback about the changes to the embedded Pictures albums, and we'll be working with the AOL Pictures and Woohoo teams to see how we can get captions for your photos to display, and also to get them to act more like a traditional, linear slideshow.
- I will try to get some more detailed tutorials on the Pictures and Video stuff up tomorrow.

I noticed another change that I think is new. Comments threads appear to be split into pages of twenty comments. So in an entry with 45 comments, those comments appear on three pages, 1-20, 21-40, and 41-45. I assume that's a database easing feature. I prefer having all the comments show at once.

Hi Joe, Kudos for updating the overall Journals but -- sheesh -- the layout of my Journal changed and every entry I've made for a year and a half now incorporates AOL's new "upgrade" in terms of pictures that zoom, span and change all by themselves. Today the new "upgrade" seems to have a bit of a bug where uploading new photos is concerned. While the new features seem interesting, I'd suggest giving us both a heads-up and the ability to "control" what is launched on our own blogs, rather than surprising us with a new layout.

I say this because the Fanhouse blog is the only place where I write that my comments get my first name as a link to my own blog.
If it isn't happening in all cases, see if it is happening to Fanhouse (or maybe other AOL-driven blogs) users.
You should have lip-synched while some huge Jamaican read from a script.

I usually am not able to watch videos in journals (or at all depending upon what pc I'm on), so thanks for also putting it in text. Also helpful for those with biological hearing difficulties not related to technology:) I'm still not happy about the photos bit, and hope that not only will it not do a scan of the parts of the photos I'd NOT scan upon, as it's doing now, but that we could chose whether or not to slide show it at all. Have a great day and perhaps you've mentioned more in another entry but if so, I just haven't read it yet. Thanks for trying to hear us. -- Robin

Hi Joe - After absorbing the new changes and reading all the comments, I believe the pictures should have a regular (old style) photo page, i.e., click to see each picture, as the default. In this manner, old journal entries as well as style of entry would not be affected by the change. As new entries are made, the author can then opt for the newer, more stylish picture entry, if desired, and adjust his/her entry style.
I like the new style a lot and simply changing the default to the old (or like) style would solve a lot of problems. For those who have dial up, this is ideal because the picture loading speed on dial up is painfully long due to the default style.
