First off, I would like to Thank Vish for the invitation and
opportunity to seize the Guest Editor position for one week, it shall
be my honor.
My name is Rebecca, and I have claimed the journal ~In The Shadow Of The
Iris~ since November of 2004. The
sheer fact that I'm still around after all these years should qualify
me as an Old Timer. I can actually say, "I remember when AOL
journals....." and back it up with stories of dial up disappearing
entry disasters, no entry spell checks, zero advertisements, and an
About Me sidebar with only enough room for 200 characters
<gasp>
Since there seems to be two sides to every coin in life, I started a
second journal a year ago to catch what I'll deem, random writings of
the undefined sort. This side of the coin can be located, heads up, at
~Lavender
Black~ I'll let my two journals and their
differences speak for themselves at this point in
time...................
As
I imagine anyone in this position would say, picking only a handful of
journals to feature is akin to picking a favorite child out of your own
children, it goes against my internal grain. But rules are rules, and
in no particular order, nor reflection of all the journals I read on a
regular basis (and it helps that many of my favorite journals have been
already featured in the past months) I shine light on some writers that
all carry their own unique voice within our
community.
Marc located at Sober Gay Poz
Ex-Con is a writer with an array of
topics splashed across his pages. He often tackles subject matter in an
authentic, no holds bar manner. He writes with honesty, humor and I
consider him a very talented writer. He writes virtually every single
day, which is dedication if I've ever seen it. Marc is also the artist
of Hy-art, a visual aspect of his journal I enjoy again and again.
Robin weaves from the canvas of Random
Threads . Honestly, I never know what
she's going to write about. Everyday meanderings, political movements,
a meme I pretend I never noticed <wink> and life itself.
When I read her journal, I get the feeling I'm chit-chatting with a
friend over coffee. She's very clever and I can always appreciate
someone who keeps me on my reading toes.
Betty's journal of Creativity--Bits and
Pieces is a place of beauty and grace.
Her entries are short, enchanting and a journey through the mind and
design of an artist. I've been a quiet observer of her talent,
organization and observations for a long time now. She posts regularly
and if you have a love of photography, following her path is sure to
inspire.
Sandi resides in the land of Life Is Full Of
Surprises . She maintains an eclectic
array of entries which cover just about any topic we can think of. Some
days I'll read her original prose, a rant about politics, a piece about
humanity, a day in her life, and entries that remind me to think about
the bigger picture in life.
In every group, there should be at least one smart backside ( I would
type the other word, but I don't want my Guest Editorship revoked on
the first day) and that person would be Dan,
from The Wisdom of a Distracted
Mind . He says his journal is fat free, but I
consider his daily postings filled to the brim with fatty wit,
interesting observations and sometimes jaw dropping facts about the
world we live in. His journal is a guaranteed smile.
The last journal I would like to encourage everyone to visit is by
Judith, at the beautiful canvas of Judith HeartSong .
Beyond being a beautifulspirit and writing almost daily of her world,
she offers a monthly community based Artsy contest for all to enter.
She provides a topic, a group of judges reviews everyone's entries and
the one that sparkles the most wins a beautiful original piece of
artwork from Judith. It's that simple and what a wonderful way to
showcase everyone's journals. The May essay contest is already under
way...................
I hope everyone has a beautiful week, filled with extraordinary.

They chose a wonderful guest editor Rebecca, and I am most honored to be on your list. There are wonderful blogs listed here and it would be so hard to provide a short list of all my favorites.

Wow, Rebecca. Thank you. I'm so incredibly honored that you'd chose me, and I am glad that you feel as if you're sharing with a friend when you labor through my mis-mash of thoughts. (I never know what is going to spill out, either......). The journals you mention that I do know, are in my small group of favorites. The others, well, I will have to check them out. Thank you and enjoy your weekend, your girls, a bit of life. -- Robin

Glad to see Judith up there! And, don't forget when the word count in an "entry" was 2,500 words! Holy Mother of God. Was there ever some editing going on back then....in the day!
