J-land @ 5
Chat - 11 votes
Make a dedicated entry - 49 votes
Other - 5 votes
Nothing - 14 votes.
My suggestion is for all (who are so inclined) to make a dedicated entry on August 21st. The subject could be the impact J-land has had on their life, and positive, negative or other experiences felt along the way. Not compulsory, everyone can do as they wish. This entry could be in a shared journal (which I'm willing to host), as well as in your own.
I am asking those interested in a chat to participate in two polls to establish time and date.
Before you all scream at the mention of GMT, I'll give the conversions
1900 GMT = 8pm UK time, 3pm EDT, 12noon PDT
2200 GMT = 11pm UK time, 6pm EDT, 3pm PDT
0100 GMT = 2am UK time, 9pm EDT, 6pm PDT
0400 GMT = 5am UK time, midnight EDT, 9pm PDT

"What's the Caption? Wednesday" poll #19
Hi. This is Krissy with this week's "What's the Caption? Wednesday" poll. I'm sorry I didn't get the poll posted earlier, but I haven't been feeling well all day. However, I know it's important, so I thought I'd get on and post.

Obviously, if you vote for "Other" you'll have to be a bit more specific, so leave a comment outlining your idea.

Guest Editor Picks - 8/8
is Jude and I have two journals, My Way
and An
Angel‘s Touch. I am from Chicago's South Suburbs, and proud
of it. I am a wife and mother of three, and a caregiver to my diabetic
husband. We are caught up in a mixed marriage. I'm a White Sox fan and
he's a Cubs fan. We have a dog, four cats and a guinea pig. I am also a
small town reporter, and my family works for a small,
grassroots charity.
I
love to tell stories. All kinds of stories. I’ve written about
everything from what my family is involved in, commentaries on politics
and the news, the Sox, and about history.
I also write about those pesky ghosts that seem to be coming out of our
woodwork. There was Fred who haunted our car for years. The car is
gone, and so is he. My thoughts are that Fred is haunting a cube of
metal at the junk yard right now. There’s the old lady who walks our
hallway, and any number of characters who just show up occasionally,
like the Emo kid who came to visit my husband recently.
As guest
editor, I was instructed to pick my favorite journals. First off, let
me say that this is an honor, although truly an impossible job. There
are so many good journals in J-Land, and so many good people. If you
visit My Way
and glance at the sidebar, you’ll see a great long list. Just
let me say that they are all my favorites and would recommend them to
anyone. I want to offer up journals that maybe haven’t been discovered
by too many before.
I’ll begin with The
Hadonfield Myer's Experience. My friend, Hadon, is a
romantic. His journal is devoted to tales of his family and allowing
his romantic imagination go
wild.
Next, is a
person I met when I began My Way
three and a half years ago. And that’s Marti at Porch
Stories. She and I found common ground immediately. She has
two daughters, one my daughter’s age. We were Girl Scout leaders
together, and later saw our girls graduate from grammar school, and
then make their own ways through high school together, but at opposite
ends of the Country. Marti and family are from
Alabama.
Another person I met
early on is Karen from KBears
Heart. Karen lives in New Mexico. When I began reading her
journal, she was ready to retire from the Post Office. Now she’s going
to school for photography and making plans to hike the Grand
Canyon.
I love
Cathy's journal from Dare to
Think. She has a scientific mind and approach to life, and
she makes me think.
Jimmy writes Jimmy's
Journal. Each weekday he shares photos, random thoughts, a
little bit of history, birthdays, jokes, and whatever is happening at
Area 51.
I’d also
recommend Jon from Lone
Star Concerto, Krissy from Sometimes
I Think, her husband, John, from Too
Stubborn to Die and Bea from The
Wanderer. And don’t stop there. Check my sidebar for more
very good, touching and thought provoking
journals.
I wanted to
note that Jeanette from
Jeannette's Jottings (also a great journal. Jeannette is from
the U.K.) has helped to put together a memorial journal for friends who
passed. It’s called SILENT
KEYBOARDS - J-LAND ANGELS 2. I particularly miss Chuck from
Dribble
by Chuck Farris and Kim from IShaved
My Legs for
This?
I
also wanted to mention a few journals I enjoy that are not in J-Land.
They are: The
Stupidsheet Guy, Judith
Heartsong, Inane
Thoughts and Insane Ramblings, and Patrick’s
Place.
Read
and enjoy. And don’t forget to stop at My Way.
GO SOX!
